Pavel & Leah Duo
Jazz is America’s great gift to the world — and Latin Jazz is its most vibrant passport. With rhythms that pulse from the Caribbean to the Americas and Africa, this music transcends borders, ignites joy, and moves even the most reluctant listener to tap their feet and smile.
At the heart of this sound are Pavel Polanco-Safadit and Leah Crane, a powerhouse duo who bring the heat, heart, and history of Latin Jazz to every stage they touch.
Born in the Dominican Republic, Pavel fell in love with the piano as a child and spent countless hours perfecting his craft. Today, his explosive style and commanding presence have made him a staple of the international Latin Jazz scene. A Chicago Music Awards nominee, Pavel has performed across North America, South America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Europe, sharing stages with legends like Peter Erskine, Dave Valentin, Max Weinberg, Sergio George, and Richard Davis. He’s also appeared with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Carmel Symphony Orchestra, and Anderson Symphony Orchestra. In addition to performing, he serves as Executive Director of Richmond’s Amigos Latino Center, continuing his lifelong mission of cultural connection through music.
Leah Crane, a dynamic vocalist from Indianapolis, is known for her versatility and soulful tone. A graduate of Indiana University’s prestigious Jacobs School of Music, she has built a career that bridges classical training with modern flair. Leah performs internationally as a soloist and session singer, and her voice can be heard on national recordings for major music publishers. Since 2017, she’s been the lead vocalist for Pavel’s acclaimed band, Direct Contact, blending her smooth, expressive sound with Pavel’s electrifying piano and high-energy rhythms.
Together, Pavel and Leah deliver performances that celebrate the spirit of Latin Jazz—passionate, spontaneous, and unforgettable.
